Welcome to the digital exhibition Student life in the University of Liverpool Archive

The exhibition draws upon a variety of archival material (including photographs, diaries, and publications) from within the University Archive. This material has been curated in order to build a picture of student life at the University of Liverpool from the creation of University College in 1881 and throughout the 20th century.

"A glance through my diaries reveals how busy life was. The week beginning 20th November 1938 lists talk by Prof. Allen on 'Japan', hostel mass meeting & choir practice, a P.P.U. meeting, two 'Keep Fit' classes, a meeting with the Lord Mayor at the Social Service Club, a Peace-Council sub-committee, a Film & talk on China, three thesis discussion sessions, a Birthday party, rowing at Chester and the Hostel dance. Somewhere between all these was academic work."

Recollections of Gilbert Marson, 1936-1940 (Ref: D716/1/15)
