Life on Campus: Introduction

This section of the exhibition provides a selection of photographs available within the University Archive which capture the general casual activities of students around campus - from relaxing in Abercromby Square in the South to studying in the Quadrangle in the North!

"In one of the side streets when descending Brownlow Hill on the right, were the abbattoirs to which flocks of cattle were frequently driven through the streets. One day a bull escaped and careered around the University buildings. It was tackled by our only woman vet, Miss Knight... we watched enthralled from the safety of the first floor Chemistry building"
